Who We Are

The Berlin Democracy Initiative e.V. is a hybrid initiative that brings together exiled journalists in Germany through community – based support, operating in the fields of media freedom, monitoring human rights violations, and investigative journalism.


Peer Support

This organization, created by exiled journalists, is based on the principle of peer-to-peer support, offering current colleagues going through this process an opportunity to exchange experiences and raising awareness about their situation.


What We Do

This awareness is raised through the organization’s publications – research, monitoring, panel discussions, workshops, and networking meetings. These activities also create a platform for sharing knowledge and encouraging informed public dialogue.

Mission

To enable exiled journalists to continue their professional activities in the countries they relocate to; to research and monitor the challenges they face in this new environment; to raise awareness on these issues; and to facilitate experience-sharing and peer-to-peer support among exiled journalists.
